The Parliamentary Research Assistant will be responsible for creating communications content related to key issues in the Senator’s areas of focus. You will draft a variety of reports, press releases, briefings, correspondence and speeches related to current issues, policies and relevant procedures. To be successful in this role, you will need to have the ability to create compelling communications, have great research and analytical skills, and be a strong team player.

• Successful completion of a university degree or a combination of relevant education and experience;• Relevant experience in legislative or legal research, policy review and drafting reports;• Experience in conceptualizing content, including writing speeches, opinion pieces and news releases for announcements;• Experience in providing strategic policy advice to executive and/or senior officials with the ability to link communications strategies to policies and procedures;• Strong research, analytical and data synthesizing skills;• Demonstrated ability to manage a wide variety of tasks within a team setting, including but not limited to; compiling and sorting documents, maintaining office filing systems, preparing briefing notes;• Strong research, analytical and communications skills as they relate to legislation and policy review;• Detail-oriented, well organized, and able to coordinate, multi-task and manage competing priorities and timelines;• Ability to build lasting relationships across the organization;• English Essential. Bilingualism (English and French) considered an asset.
