Fundamental to this modernization is how the Senate can enhance its support and development of talent in serving Senators – and Canadians. Transforming the operations of the Senate’s HR Directorate is a critical step in that direction. How Will You Contribute?As the Organizational Design & Classification Advisor, you will:• Provide organizational design, job evaluation and classification services for both unionized and unrepresented positions across the Senate. • Conduct a full-scale review of the Senate classification program (including the review of the governance and service delivery model, procedures, practices and tools) to identify efficiencies and opportunities to streamline and modernize operations. • Develop relevant tools and resources to deliver pertinent organizational design solutions to clients.
The general public to staff one (1) Organizational Design & Classification Advisor SEN-09 position within the Human Resources Directorate for a period of 24 months with possibility of extension.*Please note that this position may be staffed through an Interchange Canada or Secondment.
Essential Qualifications• Degree from a recognized university in Human Resources or in another discipline related to the duties of the position.• Demonstrated progressive experience in classification and organizational design (minimum 5 years’ experience) evidenced by a strong understanding of classification principles, standards, procedures, tools and practices. • Experience in applying the Hay Job Evaluation Methodology in conducting job evaluations and classifications.• Demonstrated experience designing and applying organizational models of varying breadth and complexity.• Experience in job analysis and evaluation, and in writing classification rationales.• Experience leading classification committees and working with external partners and vendors.• Extensive experience in developing and maintaining trustworthy relationship with clients. Essential skills • Experience in providing managers with services, advice and solutions to complex classification and organizational design issues.• Experience in policy interpretation and dealing with sensitive, personal and confidential matters.• Knowledge of classification and organizational design principles, practices and methodologies.
• Human Resources professional designation (e.g., CHRP).
