The general public to staff a temporary Driver position and may be used in an anticipatory fashion to create a pool of qualified candidates. This is a part-time position that is approximately 28 hours per week

About the Senate
The Senate is undergoing a modernization in a concerted effort to enable greater openness, inclusivity and effectiveness. Fundamental to this modernization is how the Senate can provide exemplary service to Senators – and Canadians.

How will you contribute?
Reporting to the Coordinator, Installations and Transport, the Driver provides courteous, efficient and regular small bus transportation service among the various Parliament buildings for Senators, senior government officials, dignitaries and other authorized users. In this role, you will apply transport rules and regulations to ensure that safe driving and maintenance standards are respected at all times.

Pre-selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications
• A minimum of two years’ experience driving a truck and/or a bus.
• Experience providing a high quality front-line service to the public.
• Experience ensuring that all operational safety standards are respected at all times.
• Successful completion of secondary school.
• Hold a valid driving permit (e.g. class F in Ontario; a class 4 in Québec)*.

*Candidates will be required to provide proof of a valid driving permit and abstract of your driving record before the practical exam*.

Asset Qualifications
• Hold an endorsement on your driver’s license to drive a heavy vehicle equipped with an air brake system.
• Experience communicating by using electronic devices such as a cell phone, a two-way radio, and a computer.
