Reporting to the Manager, Creative and Digital Content, the Web Design Officer is accountable for creative design and concepts to support the Senate website, which includes committee pages, senators’ bio pages and the Senate digital magazine, SenCAplus. In addition, the Web Design Officer provides advice and services to senators and their staff related to establishing and enhancing their web presence. The position is also responsible for creating design solutions with high impact visuals that meet industry standards for user-experience. The role involves liaising regularly with the Senate Information Services Directorate to ensure technical requirements are met for the website, in addition to listening to clients and understanding their needs before making design decisions.
The general public to staff one (1) contractual position of an 18-month duration in the Communications Directorate. • Post-secondary education in a related field or a combination of education and experience;• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Web Designer in a corporate environment;• Minimum of two (2) years experience leading design and implementation of user-experience solutions, including enhancing efficiencies for users; • Experience managing graphic and web design projects across their life cycle;• Ability to lead consultations with senior officials by evaluating needs, designing solutions and coordinating the implementation of technical solutions;• Demonstrated ability to oversee resources on project deliverables across multidisciplinary teams;• Advanced technical capabilities with specialized website development languages (HTML, CSS), website editing software and multimedia software used for creative and photo editing;• Knowledge of Parliament and the Canadian political landscape, an asset.
