How will you contribute?

This role is part of the Senate's security team working on The Long-Term Vision and Plan (LTVP) which is a world-class master plan to guide physical changes in the parliamentary precinct and its surrounding area. The LTVP is the largest, most complex heritage rehabilitation project ever seen in Canada and is one of the largest in the world.

Reporting to the Manager of Security Project Management and Technical Operation, the incumbant is accountable for developing the project framework surrounding the requirements of the Senate for addressing physical and technical security matters linked to the planning and implementation for this monumental construction, renovation and restoration project.

You will be the subject matter expert for the development of concept designs and detailed drawings of building component and connectivity (BCC) related requirements, the contracting process, conducting on-site inspections of security construction and equipment installations, and to guide project implementation up to the commissioning stage.

• Graduation from a recognized technical institution with a degree in a field related to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience in security programs. A certificate in security management or project management from a recognized institution would be an asset;
• Experience in the development, planning and design of physical and technical security systems infrastructure, including access control;
• Experience in the conduct of research and analysis of emerging technologies and equipment in the field of security;
• Experience in establishing project priorities, schedules, and alternatives to meet specific security needs;
• Experience in reading plans, blueprints and shop drawings, and producing security project related drawings, details and specifications using specialized computer-aided design software;
• Experience in advising senior officials on physical and technical security related matters and issues;
• In-depth knowledge of the methods, techniques and practices involved in the conduct of infrastructure physical and technical security surveys, and the development of threat and risk assessments;
• Knowledge of the LTVP vision, master plan, stakeholders and schedule would be considered a strong asset.
